A guy on the west coast bought a new Scott Plasma Ltd bike and these Zipp 606s came with it. He already has wheels he loves, so he put these on ebay with Continental Competition 19 Tires included. Brand new. Never ridden. $1250. I should be able to break a 7hr bike at CDA with these. :)
I haven't been this giddy about a tri-gear purchase since I bought the Equinox 9.
Guess I'd better start training.

Said 'goodbye' to a wonderful friend today.
Don Ferrell was a Vietnam Vet and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a loving husband and father, cherished son, brother, uncle, "Poppa" to his two beautiful granddaughters, and he was my friend. Don lost his very short battle with lung cancer on November 4th, and we said goodbye to him today. We met just over 4 years ago at a networking lunch, and quickly became friends. Don was a business owner, a former bodybuilder, and was a nutrition and fitness fanatic. When I decided to pick-up triathlons in the summer of 2003, I asked Don to write my nutrition plan. He taught me not only what to eat, but why. He taught me how to order and eat healthy in any restaurant. He taught me so many things about the importance of nutrition and was writing a book on his "80-10-10" philosophy of nutritional health and fitness at the time of his death. His personality and smile were electric, and it was impossible to be in a bad mood if Don was within 100 yds of you. I thoroughly enjoyed his friendship, and will miss him dearly.

As triathletes, we all can appreciate the role the human spirit plays in one's ability to fight through the physical pain, anguish, and obstacles of the sport. Then someone like this kid comes along to remind us that we don't know squat about overcoming obstacles. Amazing.

Needs vs. Wants
This is the 2007 Trek Equinox 9. I don't need a new bike. The bike I have is actually the 2005 version of this one. It would be soooooo easy for me to justify the 'upgrade', except for the fact that it would probably cost me 5x that much in payback by the wife. Like she needs any incentive to spend money.
Oh well. Guess I'll just have to throw new wheels on the clunker. :)
